Biography

Raised in the South of Venezuela and heavily influenced by the modernist works of Cruz Diez and Jesus Soto, Johanna Boccardo has made a name for herself with her unique and vibrant creations.

Her artwork is a mesmerizing fusion of geometric shapes, tantalizing colors, and luxurious materials. Working with hand-made paper and mixed media, she brings a sense of texture and depth to her compositions, capturing the essence of her roots and surroundings in every stroke of her brush.

Johanna’s work operates in the liminal space, blurring the boundaries between traditional art world expectations and the unbridled pleasure of personal expression.

Her skillful use of subtlety and nuance only adds to her mystique, beckoning the viewer to explore intricate layers of meaning woven into each piece.

Work

Johanna’s work is deeply inspired by Hermetic philosophy, embracing the idea that everything is interconnected. She finds a natural flow in the creative process, particularly when working with water media and handcrafted surfaces. The fluidity of the materials mirrors her passion for immersion in each piece, like a form of long-format meditation, allowing her to lose herself in the rhythm of creation.

Each artwork holds a personal connection to her beginnings, capturing sensations that transport her back to childhood memories and intimate moments. Through color, texture, and form, she aims to evoke feelings that transcend time and place, inviting viewers to experience a similar sense of reflection and connection.
